"Siesta Key Coastal Cleanup Makes Headway...Damon Harper wears many hats- as he should, because he has been certified in 40 different ways. He is a charismatic optimist and a self -proclaimed "athletic nerd" who is a Life Coach, Personal Trainer, Executive Consultant, Site Captain for Turtle Beach on Siesta Key Island for the Great American Coastal Cleanup and Environmental Activist. Last Saturday was a real labor of love for Harper, better known as `DrSporty` and his partner Michael Hassel, love for the Sarasota Beaches that is as both agreed is in need for a serious spring cleaning. Bottles, Cans, nettings, wrappers and worst of all cigarette butts, were collected by the bagful. It made many of the volunteers cringe at the thought of how very unaware some beachgoers really are. Hassel added, "If you see something on the ground pick it up, and two things are certain: You'll feel better about yourself and you will have left the world in a better place than you found it."  Harper added, "Be Conscious of what you are doing to the Environment at all times, not only for the beaches- but your office, car and at home. " The fellows have plenty going on in the months ahead , as Harper has been the site captain for Keep Sarasota County Beautiful Clean at Turtle Beach on Siesta Key Island for the past several years. 2009 Annual KSCB Golf Tournament

KSCB held its first annual golf tournament on Nov. 21 at TPC Prestancia. It was a beautiful sunny day. Golfers had fun and won great prizes that were donated by area businesses. KSCB raised $14,000 due in part to the sponsors and players.
